Speaker Series Overview

The Down Syndrome Medical Interest Group-USA (DSMIG-USA®) Speaker Series consists of webinars and enduring materials designed to share knowledge and experience related to the care of children and adults with Down syndrome and clinical research related to Down syndrome. The intended audience includes primary care physicians, specialty physicians, advanced practice providers, psychologists, dietitians, occupational and physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, social workers, genetic counselors, research scientists, residents, and trainees. The education includes live webinars that will be recorded and posted later as enduring materials. There will be a separate registration for the enduring programs.


Recent Presentation: 

Increasing Coping and Adjustment to Medical Care for Patients with Down Syndrome

  1. Attendees will be able to identify at least one preventative strategy to increase the likelihood that a patient with DS will be able to successfully tolerate a medical intervention or assessment. 
  2. Attendees will gain knowledge about exposure-based interventions to address anxiety and how exposure-based paradigms can be used to help patients tolerate their medical care. 
  3. Attendees will be able to explain the risks associated with using holds or restraints in the delivery of medical care.
